The Merger And Acquisition of jamespwalsh.com and dusk-digital.com
October 1, 2020
Now you might ask why would a Web Design and SEO business like DUSK Digital acquire a domain for the name "James P Walsh"? Good question and we will get back to it in a bit but first, let's talk about the history of this domain.
The furthest record we could find about jamespwalsh.com dates back to 2002. Using the Wayback Machine we can see how the website used to look and what its intent was.
As you can see the website was owned by a gentleman named James P. Walsh that was running for Arizona's Corporation Commission as a Democratic Candidate. We are not sure why he would sign with the name Jim but that is not so important.
We couldn't verify if he actually won his seat but we sure hope he did. Personal websites 18 years ago were still a rare thing to see you have to keep in mind.
After 2003 jamespwalsh.com the website seemed to be dropped for almost 10 years. In 2012 Professor James P. Walsh acquired the name. Who is currently teaching at the University of Michigan. His research includes papers on Managerial and Organizational Cognition, Corporate Governance, Corporation in Society, The State of Our Profession, Academy of Management Annals. With a big focus on the M&A (Merger and Acquisition) in the corporate and management world.
Here is a look of the website from 2013 to 2019:
The reason why the Domain was dropped is not clear to us. Some people just forget that they even own one and forget to renew it. Others don't see any point in having a website that they don't need.
Whatever the case might be it is interesting to go back in time to explore the history of old domains. This is also the reason why we acquired it in the first place. To explore its rich history and report on our findings. We hope to continue finding many more interesting domains like that in the future. To research their history and report about them on our blog. We hope to create a whole series about the history of domains.
